Good morning. Another day, another vlog. And this morning we are heading out. It is bright and early about 5:30 a.m. Uh we are going to a safari. Uh and then we go to the world's largest landfill. And then we've got a bunch of other stuff heating up. So shall we go? Shall we go? Let's go. Oh Look. This is full on vents. How many here? Looking extra safari. Hey, look at this. Damn. Let's go. Bright and early. How you doing, bro? You sleep? Yeah. Good. No way. This is so warm. I was about to wear a t-shirt. Really? Crazy. Yeah. So, this is cold for you. It is. I was born under the sun. There's no way. That's crazy. Right. So, before we uh head out, we're just going to go find the toilet. You know where the toilet is? He is. Yeah. Where is this? I was like I was like totally like Yeah. Oh my god, that's a cactus. That is the largest cactus I have ever seen. That is bigger than like 90% of trees. What the hell? Let's get rolling. All right, officially a couple hours later, we have made it inside. Don't forget to tell them the only capital city with a national park. Oh my gosh. How is it? The only capital city with a national park. Not even South Africa has it. Only Kenya. So, we have got hippos over here. Look at him. So big. Wow. This one is huge. Fair. This is a pretty uh strange safari. You got planes over here and then you've got Yeah, you've got freaking hippos and then skyrises here. It's a Oh, another plane there. But we've got options, don't we? In Kenya. Yeah, we we've got options like this is where we bring the block tourists. We had finally seen something. A rhino, but there's two of them. It's so far away. I don't know if you're going to be able to even zoom in. Get out and get it. Impala. All right, we are stopping for coffee. Look at this pretty nice little spot. I'm really deciding whether to extend the trip in Kenya or not because there's a few things that we want to do. But at the same time, the news is really calling at this point. And uh I don't know what what to do to head back so we can get back in the old news daddy garage or to uh stay a couple more days and just keep on reporting from here because to be fair, imagine like a a little news report set up here. Pretty amazing. Alex says we should stay. Alex says book a whole ass week. But that is a classic Alex recommendation. A baby giraffe. Woo. And man, those things are massive. Look at that hedge. Pretty cool. [Music] Damn. Whole squad. We've seen they're on so up close. What are these ones? Velvet. [Music] Oh, I'm not even going to attempt it, bro. Thank you. So these mounds are all tusks and there was there was like uh 20 tons of tusks that were burnt here. The government uh took them from the poorest and just burning them. So they discourage people from you know killing elephants. [Music] So we are back at the hotel uh because we needed to drop a fallen soldier off. Sad love you lots and all. I'm off to the largest landfill. Uh so yep here we go. onward. Okay, so we are back at the conference now and uh we're basically we're seeing everyone's going on their different little quests and things. Uh we're going to arguably I think is the coolest one out of all of them. Uh is the largest landfill. I don't know if it's in Africa, whether it's the world, but I was just being told that there's freaking rubbish gangs. There's gangs because apparently rubbish is big big business. Okay, now I want you guys to meet Nambi. She's the whole reason we were here. She studied engineering at university, but when she got out, there were no jobs. That's a huge problem for graduates here in Kenya. So, she decided, screw it. I'll create my own job. And so she ended up building these machines that you're seeing here now that take plastic waste, break it down, shred it, mix it with sand, and then the end results are these bricks. And believe it or not, every brick that you are seeing right now is actually plastic. Yeah, I know it looks exactly like a normal brick. And here's the craziest part. Not only is she doing amazing things for the planet by helping reuse plastic in practical ways, but in her efforts trying to create just a job for herself, she went way beyond that and she is now given 250 people jobs in the area. Honestly, she has an incredibly inspiring story and she's like the nicest, most positive person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. However, one of the steps in this whole process that she showed us next, I truly was not prepared for. [Music] She took us to the largest landfill in East Africa, which is absolutely slammed with plastic pollution. Now, this is where she is taking a lot of this plastic that she is reusing in a meaningful way. And for the people working on these literal mountains of trash, this isn't actually just where they work. For some, this is where they live. This is where they're all doing uh a lot of the picking and the sorting. And they're saying that entire families pick through this like, you know, children, wives, husbands, and they get into Look, there's even a dog. Alex, you can zoom in on that in these birds. They put it on these trucks. It's crazy, man. Honestly, like it's you you hear about it and then when you're actually here, it's like it is it's overwhelming. It's shocking. It's crazy. Almost speechless, man. Till the day I die, I will never be able to get what I saw here out of my head. It is genuinely hard to put into words and I feel like nothing does it justice. So, how does someone get into this job? It is just I would say a victim of circumstances. You know, most of them don't want to be here. Of course, everyone wants to get over here, but it's it's the only opportunity that's close to home. of course lack of jobs and also yeah lots of politics behind it cartels and stuff like that some of them are actually trapped here I think really in what way gangs you know cuz it's it's it's also not cuz where there is trash there is money as well and where there is money violence tends to follow how are people that come here how are they actually making money uh I believe it's just by like collecting, you know, sorting out. So money is in the sorting cuz the the trucks then they make the money, you know, from the estates and stuff, they collect the the trash, bring it, dump it here. So once everything is dumped in one one place, so like for the recyclers, you know, if they need plastic, this one needs glass, this one maybe needs metal or copper from some electronics and stuff. So the sorting some some of them sort um cardboard boxes. So they make money from the sorting. So as you can see like over there like there you see there that's a plastic them they have sorted out the plastic. So they are going now to and then they will be weighed in kilos. So and that that's how they make their money for for the day and then the middlemen they go sell to them the cycling plants of course at a higher price. So the value just keeps it gets higher higher up the value chain like the the people at the bottom here they don't really earn much and it keeps them here every day you know you just get enough to to survive for today so that tomorrow you wake up you don't have enough to lazy around you you have you need to come and do the same same thing over and over and the cycle of life continues [Music] Yeah, Dennis went over and and did one of them a bit of money and we just saw crowds coming through. And perhaps this was the whole point as to why and Zombie brought us here, for us to see it with our own eyes. Because we all unfortunately know that horrific circumstances like this exist in the world, but until you see it and experience it with your own eyes, it it just doesn't hit you like like it has now. So, I genuinely wanted just to take a few seconds towards the end of this video to say if there is any way that I can help, it'll be through reporting her inspirational story and showcase how she's not just doing good for the planet, but for also the people living in the worst situations imaginable. So, if anyone is seeing this and you'd like to reach out to Inzombie and uh speak to her and see how uh if there is anything that we can do to help her, I'll make sure to put all of her contact information in the description because the more that we can help her, the more that she can help everyone here in this situation, too. That's my little rant over. Love you guys. And back to the vlog. I have never experienced something like that. Ah, we are back at the hotel. I mean, first of all, before we even go into Maddie in that room and how her day has been because we have officially got a fallen soldier in Kenya. Um, as you could see why she wasn't there in the landfill. This has been her position for the last whole day. She's been sleeping all day. I don't know what she ate. Maybe she put her fingers in her mouth. But we knew it was going to happen. Something was going to happen to one of us. Um, and yeah, she's not been feeling great. Throat up. Um, and we've got one more day left in Kenya. One more day. And tomorrow is a big one. So, we'll see. We'll see if, you know, we're going to get our main character back in the mix and we're out and we're back to the the regular news. So, enjoy each vlog as it comes. So, for the second to final night, I love you guys. It's been a wonderful day. Well, it's been a day. Um, and I will see you in the morning. [Music]
